Bandung – Cave Mekar Group now runs rooftop solar power plants with a combined capacity of 1,946.47 kWp at the PT. Cave Sumber Berkat and Mekar Plastik factories. To date the rooftop solar has generated, and production has used, more than 4.5 GWh of clean electricity, making Cave Mekar Group one of the plastics manufacturers in Indonesia producing with solar power at industrial scale.

Inaugurated on 28 April 2025 at PT. Cave Sumber Berkat

The largest phase was inaugurated on 28 April 2025 at PT. Cave Sumber Berkat with an installed capacity of 1,350.18 kWp. The system supports energy efficiency, lowers carbon emissions and strengthens the company’s move to low-emission operations. With the rooftop solar at the Mekar Plastik factory, the group’s combined capacity reaches 1,946.47 kWp.

“This initiative is part of the company’s long-term strategy to run operations that are more responsible to the environment. We believe investment in renewable energy brings long-term benefits for both the business and the environment,” PT. Cave Sumber Berkat’s management said at the inauguration.

Solar power and recycling in one system

Rooftop solar complements Cave Mekar Group’s circular commitment. Since 2003 the group has recycled more than 250 thousand tonnes of PP, PE and HDPE plastic on EREMA lines from Austria and turned it back into pellets for new products. With solar power, recycling and the production of bags, film, thinwall and cups now run with a lower carbon footprint.

For customers this means plastic packaging from factories that use renewable energy and recycled material, backed by ISO 9001 and the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) at PT. Cave Sumber Berkat. Learn more on the Cave Mekar Group Circularity page.
